Apple Expands India Manufacturing Commitment with New Education Hub

Apple is deepening its investment in India’s manufacturing ecosystem by launching its first Education Hub in the country, alongside expanded training programs that will include advanced skills like Swift coding, robotics, and smart manufacturing. The move underscores Apple’s strategic commitment to building a skilled workforce that can support its growing manufacturing operations in India.

Comprehensive Skills Development

The Education Hub, set to open in Bengaluru, will operate in collaboration with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Training programs will begin in March 2026, starting with digital literacy and Swift coding for beginners. Faculty from Manipal will train supplier instructors, who will then deliver sessions to larger employee groups across Apple’s supply chain.

This train-the-trainer model allows Apple to scale skills development efficiently across its supplier network. Rather than training each employee directly, Apple equips supplier trainers who can then reach thousands of workers across multiple facilities.

The expanded curriculum covers an impressive range of skills essential for modern manufacturing: digital literacy provides foundational technology competence, Swift coding enables employees to develop basic programming skills, robotics training addresses the growing automation in manufacturing, and smart manufacturing concepts prepare workers for Industry 4.0 environments.

Strategic Partnership with Tata Electronics

Starting with Tata Electronics, Apple’s major iPhone manufacturing partner in India, the new programs will roll out across its supply chain. This partnership approach ensures training directly addresses the needs of companies actually producing Apple products, making skills immediately applicable on production lines.

The focus on Tata Electronics is particularly significant given the company’s central role in Apple’s India manufacturing strategy. Tata has taken over operations at the former Wistron facility in Karnataka and is establishing new production capacity, making it one of Apple’s most important Indian partners.
