Addverb Launches India’s First Wheeled Humanoid Robot for Industrial Use

Addverb Technologies, India’s largest homegrown robotics company backed by Reliance Industries, has unveiled Elixis-W, the country’s first made-in-India wheeled humanoid robot designed specifically for industrial applications. The launch at LogiMAT India 2026 marks a significant milestone in India’s robotics capabilities and positions the company to compete in the global humanoid robot market.

The Elixis-W took 1.5 years to develop and will be commercially launched first in India before expanding to global markets. Addverb’s pricing strategy positions the robot competitively between European and Chinese offerings. Chinese humanoid robots typically cost between Rs. 50-75 lakh, while European and Japanese alternatives range from Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 1.5 crore.

Addverb uses Japanese and European components, which are considered more reliable than domestically-sourced Chinese components. The company also benefits from the recently announced India-US trade deal, which reduced US tariffs on Indian exports from 50 percent to 18 percent, while import duties on Chinese goods remain at 31 percent.

The company plans a measured rollout, building 100 humanoid robots in the first year to test demand with five to six key domestic customers. Production is expected to rise to 500 units in the second year and 2,000 units in the third year. This timeline could accelerate depending on global demand patterns.

The global humanoid robot market currently stands at around 10,000 units annually, with just 100-200 units in India. Projections suggest this could reach 10 billion units globally by 2040, representing enormous growth potential.
